College Planning

$50.00

Career planning is an crucial part of the college admission process. A good and well-executed plan has the potential to yield incredible results. It is highly recommended for planning to begin in the student’s first year of high school. However, it is not uncommon for parents to start planning as early as middle school. The hard reality is that college admissions are becoming increasingly more competitive as the pool of qualified applicants continues to get larger. For example, UCLA alone is now seeing more than 100,000 freshman applications competing for one of the roughly 19,000 available spots. It is for this reason that students must develop a clear sense of everything they need to do in high school to increase their odds of being accepted by the university of their choice.

My 10+ years of experience guide my coaching. As an advisor, I assist my students with college research, SAT prep, financial aid applications, admission essays, high school class selection, and extracurricular activities. I know that applying to college can be an overwhelming experience, but with the right plan and support, it does not have to be ツ

Do not become another clone!

The Biggest Mistake

Time and time again, I see students taking an identical approach to their college application. They do the same type of extra-curricular activities, take similar classes, and talk about the same things in their admission essays. By doing this, the student becomes another cookie-cutter applicant who is not memorable and thus easily forgotten. If your application looks the same as the others, you are not competing for anything. What you’re doing is choosing a number and hoping the gamble pays off. The strength of an application lies on its ability to showcase your personality and skills which enables you to stand out from the crowd.

Admissions Project

At prestigious universities, admission officers must shuffle through hundreds if not thousands of applications. Most of these officers spend an average of 10 to 15 minutes reviewing each application. This means that your entire academic history, aspirations, and hard-work get 10 to 15 minutes to make a lasting impression. And this will not happen if you are unable to present yourself in a way that makes you stand out from the rest of the crowd.

A great way to distinguish yourself from others is by developing a website to showcase your abilities, accomplishments, and vision for the future. Admission officers look for students who they think one day will become superstars in their chosen field.

Acceptance Rate!

The great majority of my students go on to earn a spot at a college from their top 5 choices. The key is to maintain a strong GPA, relatively high SAT scores, and to differentiate yourself from others by developing a well-crafted college admissions project.

I just wanted to take this moment and thank Andy for the help he provided to my daughter. Katie graduated from High School and will be attending UCLA. I don’t think I realized how much Andy helped us last year until I began to see the results. I recommend Andy to any parent looking for someone who can truly help.
