The USA Ranks 37th in Math 😲

It is a well known and unfortunate fact that the United States often fails to be in the top 10 spots of the world’s most advanced countries. According to Business Insider, in the year 2015, the US ranked 24th in Reading, 25th in science, and a whopping 45th in mathematics! Those appalling results are due in part because of the extremely slow and weak Common Core material. What this means is that on average your child is falling behind compared to other children around the world. For this reason, it is important to supplement your child’s education with the material necessary to remain competitive and excel in school.

Students between the ages of 8-11 are highly capable of understanding the most important concepts of Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1. The proper understanding of both subjects is fundamental to the successful development of mathematics in the student’s mind. Unfortunately, all public schools must follow Common Core Standards which are often very basic, and not very clear on how to achieve the objective.

In a very good article in Forbes Magazine, it is explained for instance how the Common Core “lists the skills students need to master at each grade level without specifying any particular knowledge they need to acquire. [Which] could be a fatal flaw when it comes to literacy.” The inefficacy of such guidelines creates a situation in which students oftentimes fail to be ready for college. As recently as 2017, the state of California in education was ranked 40th earning 69.9 points out of 100. Therefore, the problem of Common Core at the Federal level is compounded by the failure of California public schools. At the end of all of it, the only ones who suffer are the students, teachers, and parents.

It is never too late for any student to begin the process of getting ready for college. Fortunately, there are many options available for you. If you think you need extra help, your local school districts should be able to provide you with some resources. There are also private organizations or individuals like myself. The education of your children is very important, and it is wise to take a few extra steps to make sure they have the knowledge to be the leaders of tomorrow.
